Plant It Earth recommends that you keep your pets & children off the lawn until one hour after the application has been watered in. This is one reason we recommend watering in our application the same day it is applied. By the law you have 48 hours to water in the application, even if it is not your watering day. Once your application has been fully watered in, your children & pets can return to the lawn without any precautions.
We offer free service calls to our monthly customers at no extra cost. All you have to do is call our office, let them know the situation, and one of our trained technicians will be out within 48 hours to address your concerns.
No, each property is treated for the specific needs of that particular property. Our trucks are equipped with a 1000 gallon water tank on the top that carries freshwater, and two smaller separate tanks on the back that allow our technicians to custom mix to the needs of your specific property. This allows us to give our customers superior service compared to what most of our competitors offer. Many of our competitors spray the same mixture on every property, even though they know that each property needs different products and nutrients.
Our program, our trucks, and our technicians are equipped to do whatever is needed on your property during your treatment. If we are there to treat your lawn, and there is a concern on your shrubs, it gets treated right then and there before we leave your property. This is done as a part of your service, and there is never an extra charge.
At Plant It Earth we recommend that our customers start their watering cycles between the hours of 12 midnight and 3 AM. This is the best time to water because the sun is down, there is little wind, & the water has time to sink into the soil before the sun comes up.
We recommend that most applications be watered in within 48 hours. This will activate the products and get them working faster. Our trained technicians will leave detailed notes with watering instructions on your services invoice each month. It is important to know that Florida law allows homeowners a 48 hour window to water in any fertilization application performed on their property. Even if it is not their watering day. This is why we put lawn flags in your lawn after each application, so that county water inspectors know your lawn has recently been treated. Giving you the right to water within 48 hours.
We recommend that our customers keep their lawn mowed between 4 ½ to 5 inches. Keeping St. Augustine mowed high will help keep insects out, weeds to a minimum, the color much greener, and the grass much more drought resistant.
Yes, Plant It Earth has a program designed specifically for empire zoyzia.
A good rule of thumb is to mow your lawn once per week in the summer, and once every two weeks in the winter. It is also very important to make sure your mower is set to a height of 4 ½ inches, that your mower blade stays sharp, and that you always change your mowing pattern to prevent rutting. A good rule of thumb is to never cut more then 1/3 of the grass blade in one cut. Mowing is a very important part of your lawns success, so our technicians will always let you know how your mowing habits are. Also, if you ever have any questions in regards to mowing concerns, please call our office.
Your lawn may be mowed the same day your lawn was treated. Most mowers and landscape maintenance companies use mulching kits and do not bag the clippings. So even if the lawn has been mowed, the products will still be on the lawn clippings and be watered in when your irrigation system runs. The best thing to do however, is to try and water in each application before mowing if at all possible.
One of the primary reasons grass begins to thin out and deteriorate under oak trees is due to the amount of shade provided by the oak tree and the acidity of the oaks leaves that fall from the tree. This ultimately will affect the PH level in your soil and hinder your lawns performance. Many of our competitors do nothing to help in areas under oak trees. At Plant It Earth we will work very hard in areas like this with applications of lime and potassium. Also, soil samples are sometimes needed to determine what a problem area needs to be corrected. If this is something that needs to be done, please know that our trained technicians will keep you informed of the situation and what is being done to correct the area.
It is very important you do not turn your irrigation box to the off position; this will make sure you do not forget to turn the switch back to the on position. Each irrigation system should be equipped with a rain sensor, this sensor tells your irrigation box not to turn on when there has been an adequate amount of rain fall. If you feel that your irrigation system’s rain sensor is inadequate or malfunctioning, please feel free to contact our office.
No, however we have teamed up with several lawn maintenance companies in the area that we have worked with for years and strongly recommend. The great part about working with one of our landscapers is the added communication. We take a team approach and eliminate the finger pointing that happens all too often between the two companies. Also, if our landscaper notices anything out of the ordinary on your property, they will notify us immediately. If you should ever need a landscaper reference, please feel free to call our office.
Yes, we believe very strongly in having the same technician service your property each and every treatment. This allows your technician to know your property’s strengths and weaknesses. Contact insecticides will kill any insects they come in contact with and systemic insecticides live in the plant tissue for up to 90 days and protect your property even between services. Yes, when a property is treated with insecticide, the insects will want to find a nearby area that will serve as their new breeding ground. Here at Plant It Earth we protect our customers from this by using systemic insecticides. Systemic Insecticides have been a revolutionary breakthrough for our industry; these products are taken up through the plant’s leaf tissue and root system and live in the plant for up to 90 days. That’s means if insects come onto your property between your scheduled treatments, they will die as soon as they eat off of your turf. Systemic insecticides are very expensive, but allow us to keep our customers protected from the majority of insects including chinch bugs, even between our applications. Plant It Earth insists on being proactive rather than reactive, and systemic insecticides are one of the ways we stay proactive.
Absolutely, at Plant It Earth we treat the weeds in your flower beds and the cracks and crevasses of your driveway during every application. It is important however to know that the products we use in your flower beds will harm the plants if sprayed to close. So we do our very best to get all the weeds in your flower beds, however, any weeds coming up very close or within the plant will need to be hand-pulled by your landscaper.
For areas that receive only partial sunlight throughout the day we recommend Seville or Bitter blue. However, it is very important to remember that all breeds of St. Augustine require no less than 3-4 hours of sunlight per day to thrive. To help in shaded areas, consider having the trees blocking the sun trimmed or thinned out by a professional.
The best breed of St. Augustine for an area that gets full sun would be floratam. Floratam is the most widely used and most common breed of St. Augustine.
